Who are Short Bowel Survivor& Friends?

Short bowel survivor and Friends are a children's charity set up by parents/carers of children with the potentially life threatening condition Short Bowel Syndrome. (SBS)

What does our organisation aim to do?

Our mission is to provide information, support and advice to families who have endured SBS.  Our website contains up-to-date reliable information that is available for everyone to access.

We also want to raise awareness of Short Bowel Syndrome (SBS) throughout the UK and beyond, thus making it an uncommon - but recognised and treatable condition.

Through fundraising and public donation our long term aim is also to provide where needed, some financial support to families with children
in hospital suffering from SBS. This could be in the form of a grant for small items of equipment, materials, or clothing and if necessary some help towards travel expenses for parents visiting their sick child in hospital, especially where the parents live some considerable distance from the hospital.

These small grants could make a Big difference to families with small babies and children with SBS, particularly those needing long term hospitalisation, following major surgery.

How can you help?

There are a number of ways you can help us. No matter who you are or whether SBS affects you directly or not!

Firstly you could hold your own fundraising event! It could be a sponsored walk, fun run or swim! A dress-up or dress down day at work, in the office or at school. It could be a Cake Sale, Jumble Sale, Car Boot Sale - but whatever, if you decide to do to do a fundraising activity make sure you include all the family and make sure you have FUN!

However if you simply don't have time to do an activity but you still want to support us, you can help by making a donation - no matter how small. All donations will be thankfully received and acknowledged by email or post if your details are provided.
